What made you decide to become a teacher?

I was in college, and I was going to go to medical school when I realized medicine was not for me. I wanted to make a difference and help people. I got the opportunity to become a TA when I saw a student’s “aha” moment, which is when I realized I wanted to teach. 

How long have you been working at Island Trees, and what are your favorite classes to teach?

This is my 5th year at Island Trees. My favorite class to teach is probably Biology.

What is your favorite thing about Island Trees?

The students. I love the students and the connections we make. Island Trees has always felt like family. Making lifelong connections with students and family has become my favorite part. 

What do you like to do outside of school/work?

I love to spend time with family, travel, and cycle.

What is one fun fact about you?

I am a type 1 diabetic.
