On October 22nd, Island Trees High School held a blood drive! Students over 16 years of age could just walk in and have the chance of being a savior! Anyone under 16 needed a permission slip to give the okay to donate. Donors had to make sure you were hydrated that day before giving blood and also that they had a good meal as well.
The blood drive also had plenty of snacks and drinks for everyone donating. There were all kinds of snacks like cookies, chips, gatorade, water, etc. Also, did you know that one person donating blood can help save up to three lives? Donors help patients of all ages as well!
Every person who donated gave 1 pint of blood. Our bodies have an amazing capacity to replace all the cells and fluids that have been lost after donating. An estimated 4.5 million Americans will need a blood transfusion each year. So everyone that donated in our blood drive is really helping out in a real way.
Thanks to all that donated!
