Island Trees High School recently organized another successful Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 24th. It was held in the gymnasium for 6 hours. By donating only one pint of blood you can save up to 3 lives. Giving blood is a fairly simple process. I just had to check in with my ID. However, if you are under 16 years of age you must provide a parent consent form as well. After checking in I got my temperature and iron levels checked. Then I actually gave blood. When I finished giving blood I was replenished with pretzels, Oreos and apple juice.
After talking with my classmates, during the Blood Drive I discovered many students take pride in giving blood. Whether it’s to honor a family member, a friend or just to feel good about themselves. Just by taking 10 minutes out of your day can make a major impact on the world. It really does save lives.
If you did not get around to giving blood this time, no need to worry. There will be another Blood Drive this Spring!
