On Wednesday, October 23rd, the ENL department of the Island Trees School District hosted a family fall festival for ENL students and their families. ENL, English as a New Language, is a growing population at Island Trees. There are currently about 200 English Language Learners in our district, including commanding-level students. Our ENL students continue to exhibit diversity, positivity, and creativity.
At the festival, students and families were welcomed with a pumpkin patch, a hayride (shoutout to the facilities department!), and face painting. Families were also given information regarding the Island Trees Public Library, YES Community Counseling Center, and school-specific information.
Additionally, students from the Island Trees High School’s Foreign Language Honor Societies volunteered their time to ensure a successful event. Our next ENL event will be in the spring!
