The Traitors, an American reality competition show, was added to Peacock streaming service in early 2023. Centered around the theme of deception, The Traitors brings together celebrities, former game show contestants, and everyday individuals at the Scottish castle of host Alan Cumming. Once all of the contestants arrive, 3 are chosen as “Traitors”, while the others remain as “Faithfuls”. 

Once the Traitors and Faithfuls are chosen, all contestants participate in both mental and physical challenges, to continuously increase the prize money. Every night, following these missions, the contestants come together to discuss who they think should be “banished”, basically who they think is a Traitor. Contestants share their reasons and all vote. Before the chosen contestant is banished, they must disclose whether they are a Traitor or Faithful. After “the round table”, the Traitors also commit a “murder” of a fellow contestant, someone who they think is a threat. The following day, the Faithfuls discover who has been murdered when they do not show up to the group breakfast.

Once we reach the final 4 contestants, they can decide if they would like to end the game or continue to banish each other. If all the remaining contestants are faithfuls, they split the money evenly. However, if there is even one traitor left, the traitor(s) receive all of the money. 

Celebrities such as Kyle Cooke (Summer House), Arie Luyendyk Jr. (The Bachelor Franchise), and Phaedra Parks (The Real Housewives of Atlanta) have been featured on this show, along with past winners of Survivor and Big Brother. Season 3 premieres on Thursday, January 9th at 9 PM on Peacock.
